Image
I received a call early this morning that my cousin Walter Barreto 44 years young had passed and was gone to be with the Lord. Words could never express what a witness of a beautiful fun loving spirit he was during his time here on earth. The Joy he brought to so much of the family with his never ending smiles, laughter and entertainment for both young and old at the wonderful parties he labored endlessly over. Although our lives where far apart geographically Facebook allowed us to connect on numerous occasions and the photos and joy that has been captured over the years of birthdays and other family get together's will leave a legacy of Love that will last forever in my heart. Elizabeth Barreto-Abreu and Jose Victor Barreto the brother and sister he leaves behind I'm sure you will miss him but I can tell you the Party is On in heaven right now and he is jammin' with the Lord in full Glory. I'm sorry for your loss and will continue to celebrate his life with the memo

1 John 3:20-21 New Living Translation (NLT) 20 Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything. 21 Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. It was that time of day when I was coming home very late in the evening and wasn't sure what kind of mess I was going to find when I arrived. I was house-breaking a new puppy I named Kato. Everyday I would open the door and he would greet me with a jump up to my shoulders with joy! He was the happiest pu

“The Power of your Testimony” Hello my name is Kurt Barreto I have had an amazing journey up to this point in my life. And my life is truly only beginning, life with God has changed everything. I was raised Catholic in Centereach, a small Eastern Long Island town. My childhood was awesome I have no horror stories to report; my parents are still married and raised me with much love. I would classify my youth as blessed. My wife calls it a "Leave it to Beaver" life. My Dad was a hard worker and my work ethic comes from him. Unfortunately this humble existence was the perfect subtle breeding ground for self-reliance to prosper! I truly believed I had it together. I went to church fairly often, I completed all my sacramental duties as a Catholic and I thought I knew who God was. But I guess you don’t know what you don’t know…. I got married at 24 because I thought I was running out of good luck with my usual sins of going out with girls and drinking. I had to grow up to p

THE HEART MATTERS John 7:22 "Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man." JOHN 7:21-24 The covenant of circumcision was given to Abram in Gen. 17:9-14. In v. 14, the Lord said that any man who did not carry this sign of the covenant in his flesh was to be killed. This placed a great importance on the act of circumcision. Paul says in Rom. 4:3-13, that Abraham had already been justified by faith before he was circumcised. It was Abram's faith that saved him at least 13 years before the Lord commanded Abram to be circumcised. The Jews had focused on the outward act of obedience instead of the inward act of faith that caused Abraham to be obedient. This was the source of the contention between Jesus and the religious leaders too. They were emphasizing all the outward acts that the Lord had commanded and were totally disregarding the motives of the heart. Jesus was saying th
